So for now, the 2008-09 Nuggets roster is shaping up with forwards Carmelo Anthony, Nene, Kenyon Martin, Linas Kleiza, Balkman and Andersen, center Steven Hunter, and guards Iverson, J.R. Smith, Dahntay Jones, Anthony Carter, Sonny Weems and Chucky Atkins. That's 13 of 15 roster spots filled with no real point guard, no real center, no real shooter and Birdman being the only "defender." Gulp. If I think about it too much right now, it will just ruin my Monday.
DENVER STIFFS - So what did I miss while I was gone?...
I suspect many Nuggets fans share Stiffs' sentiment.

"I thought the way [the Nuggets] went about it was classless," he said. "I thought it could have gone down a whole lot better. I'll get over it once training camp begins when I'm around the guys. You never forget. I'm definitely looking forward to those couple games we play against Denver.
How [freaking] stupid can the Denver management be? I get it that the Nuggets laid a giant egg last season and don't want to lose a ton of money on a team that isn't going anywhere. But to scapegoat Camby for this is asinine. What, you say Camby isn't scapegoated, he's just the one guy on the roster whose salary could be unloaded? Well then why is coach George Karl still around--wasn't he the guy who couldn't get this squad full of superstar contracts to play a lick of defense (aside from Camby, who led the NBA with 3.61 blocks per game to go with his 13 rebounds and 3.3 assists)? And why did Denver management explain they were dumping Camby to clear cap space to eventually sign free agents like chucklehead JR Smith, he of the $50 hops and 10-cent brain?
Camby traded to the Clippers
Apparently Denver will get future draft picks and cap relief. Nothing wins championships quite like short term cap relief and getting rid of the only player on your roster who knows what defense is.

Marcus Camby traded to Clippers
"The Los Angeles Clippers, exactly one week after finding out they had lost their face of the franchise, have rebounded with a significant trade acquisition.
The Clippers on Tuesday agreed to terms on a deal with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their replacement for Elton Brand, according to NBA front-office sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers will only have to surrender a future second-round pick to acquire Camby, who is being jettisoned into the Clippers' salary-cap space vacated by Brand to generate payroll relief for the Nuggets.
A trade call with the league to approve the deal has been completed, sources said, clearing the way for the teams to announce the swap later Tuesday.
Camby, 34, is coming off a productive season in which he averaged 9.1 points, 13.1 rebounds and 3.61 blocks for the Nuggets, who won 50 games to claim the final playoff spot in what is regarded as the most competitive conference race in league history.
But the Nuggets have yet to advance out of the first round with their Allen Iverson-Carmelo Anthony-Camby core and, according to sources, opted to shed the remaining two years on Camby's contract (worth nearly $15 million) to create the flexibility that could allow for more changes.
The Nuggets had the league's fourth-highest payroll last season and are required to pay $13,572,079 in luxury taxes for last season by July 23."

Artest not a fan of the Nuggets organization
Apparently Ron Artest heard some bad things from the Nuggets last year, most likely second or third hand, when they decided not to trade Eduardo Najera and Linas Kleiza for him. As a result not only does he not want to be traded to Denver, but he will not consider the Nuggets should he become a free agent after next season.
Of course, this is the same guy who, a day after the deadline passed for opting out of his contract, changed his mind and decided he made a terrible decision so only time will tell if Artest really has made up his mind about the Nuggets.
